How to download all your Facebook history/data

You can download all your Facebook data in an archive and can see what crazy things you did in your past which you don't even remember now. Mine was hilarious! Want to know yours?

What will be in that archive?
  • Photos or videos you've shared on Facebook
  • Your Wall posts, messages and chat conversations
  • Your friends' names and some of their email addresses

What won't be in that archive?
  • Your friends' photos and status updates
  • Other people's personal info
  • Comments you've made on other people's posts
Let me show you how you can download all your data-
  • Login to your Facebook account and then go to Settings- Account Settings.
  • In the General tab, click on Download a copy of your Facebook data.

  • Then click on Start My Archive.
A small window may pop up saying "It may take a little while for us to gather your photos, wall posts, messages, and other information. We will then ask you to verify your identity in order to help protect the security of your account"
  • If you see it, then again click on Start My Archive.
Now once Facebook completes generating all your data, they will send you an email saying "Your data has been generated and is ready for download". (Normally it takes less than an hour)
  • So visit the same page again after one hour and you will see that your archive is ready to be downloaded.
